My Independent Project
|
I used Acrylic paint as my sole medium for this project, drawing inspiration from some of my favorite movies and how they portray the theme of my project. The reason I chose this topic is to highlight the devastating impact that the loss of a child can have on a mother, especially when the loss is violent, as it is for the women I have chosen to depict. However, I also want to show how in a way, this experience can be beautiful too. The sheer intensity of a mother's love for her child, is evident by the violent emotions these women experienced after their loss, and it is something that should be revered. It's like the saying goes, "To find peace in the violence." I hope that this project will inspire people, and make them realize that motherly love knows no bounds, regardless of the world we live in. I'm thrilled to be working on this project and look forward to having you all see it.
Being honest, I faced some difficulties while working on this project. I experienced several days (not in a row) of heavy art block, which made it hard for me to create anything. Additionally, I had to restart one of the paintings, which caused slight panic. However, to overcome my art block and the stress of restarting a painting, I asked for help, received feedback, learned different techniques, and applied them to my paintings. In the end, despite the challenges, I think all the paintings turned out great! Although there will always be a few things I would like to change or edit, I feel that these are my best paintings so far. I am especially proud of the blending and coloring, which turned out really well. Throughout the course of this project, I gained a valuable insight that has significantly impacted my work approach. I came to realize that my time management skills needed improvement, and that plotting out my time more efficiently would allow me to complete tasks more effectively. Furthermore, I learned that trusting the process is key to achieving success. Instead of constantly worrying about the outcome, I now focus on putting in my best effort and letting the process take its course. This has helped me stay more grounded and has led to better results. |
